Vancouver gives you more visual range in an hour's drive than anywhere else in the country: a rainforest ten minutes from downtown, a driftwood beach with the North Shore mountains behind it, a gondola to a summit, and a city that photographs like a different continent in the rain.
The local skill is not finding beauty, it is planning around weather. Between October and April a wet ceremony is the base case, not the exception. Every timeline I build names a specific covered location I have already looked at, and I carry the lighting to make an interior work. Rain days frequently produce the better gallery, but only when the backup was decided in advance rather than in a parking lot at three in the afternoon.

Not "we'll make it work" and not "rain is good luck". A named covered location at or near your venue that I have physically looked at, plus the lighting to make an indoor room work. In this city that is the difference between a gallery and an apology.
A ceremony in a provincial park or on Crown land needs a permit and the process is slow. I arrange it rather than hoping nobody asks. Helicopter access, ground transport and vendors are quoted as their own lines so you can decline any of them.
The collection price does not move with the map, and travel uses the leanest practical route for the date. Tofino is the one I will flag honestly, because it usually wants an extra night and therefore the ten-hour collection.
For a city wedding the work is the same as anywhere: a timeline that respects the light, coverage that does not run out before the dancing, and portraits that take twenty minutes rather than an hour and a half. The local difference is rain. Between October and April a wet ceremony is not the exception, so every timeline I build has a covered plan that is a real plan, scouted in advance, not a shrug on the day.
Sea-to-Sky is a different job. Whistler and Squamish need travel time counted properly, and anything on Crown land or in a provincial park needs its permit sorted well before the date. The photography costs the same as it does anywhere else: Signature C$3,000 and Legacy C$4,200. Travel is kept lean with early-booked low-cost routes and grouped regional dates.
Premium local photography in this market runs roughly C$5,800 to C$7,500 for a full day, and multi-service mountain packages start around C$8,500 once vendors are bundled in. If that bundled day is what you want, I will tell you honestly what it costs to build. If you want the photography, Signature is C$3,000 and travel stays separate.

Downtown
Old-growth rainforest ten minutes from a hotel lobby. Overcast is its best light, which is convenient.
West Vancouver
Driftwood, granite and the lighthouse. A short scramble in a gown, so shoes matter.
West Vancouver
Rock shelves and islands offshore. The most reliable sunset in the Lower Mainland.
North Vancouver
A working cove with boats and mountains. Good for a real ceremony with guests standing on sand.
60 to 100 minutes north
Gondolas, alpine and glacier light. Same price as Vancouver, and permits arranged in advance.
Ferry, then the highway
Storm season on the west coast is a genuine reason to get married in November. Outside the published region, so quoted against your venue.
The work
Frames from real Vancouver, the North Shore and the Sea-to-Sky corridor weddings rather than location scouting. Every one of these was a day with guests in it.
Whistler and Squamish cost the same as a Kitsilano Saturday, because the photography is the same work. The corridor drive goes in the travel figure, not the collection.

The one market in Canada where the season question is really a rain question.
June to August
Long, dry, bright
The dry window, and the reason Vancouver Saturdays disappear first. Portraits go late; sunset is near ten in June.
September
Gold and still dry
The best single month in the region. Warm light, thin crowds, and the weather has not turned yet.
October to April
Soft, grey, wet
Expect rain and plan for it. Overcast is the most flattering light there is and wet pavement doubles every streetlight.
Whistler in winter
Blue and short
Snow, blue hour at four, and a completely different day. Worth it if you actually want winter rather than tolerate it.
The shape of it
A Signature wedding in the Lower Mainland. A Sea-to-Sky or Island day adds travel time and usually wants ten hours.
Hotel or house. Details first, then people, then the room once it is calm.
By now we know which plan we are on. Both were scouted, so neither is a scramble.
Permit in hand where the site needs one. Guests seated, and I stay out of the aisle.
Under cover if it is wet, which is another reason the covered location gets chosen in advance.
Twenty minutes at the water or in the trees, timed to the light rather than the schedule.
Dinner, speeches, dancing. Flash after dark, and the background drops to black on purpose.
Whole days
Every wedding comes back as one continuous roll. These open on the first frame and run to the last, including the quiet parts a portfolio leaves out. It is the only honest way to judge whether someone can carry a whole day.

What it costs
The same as everywhere else. A collection carries one national price, because the photography is the same work wherever it happens. Sales tax goes on top, so do any add-ons you choose, and travel stays separate only when the wedding requires its own trip.

Travel: Early-booked low-cost air, ground transport and only the nights the schedule requires. It is a separate, agreed figure in the contract, never a line that appears at the end. Send the venue and the date and you will have it in the first reply.

Yes. The collection costs the same there as everywhere, C$3,000 for Signature and C$4,200 for Legacy. The Island adds a ferry and Tofino adds three hours of highway beyond the flight, which is a genuinely different trip, so the travel is quoted against your actual venue and date. What I will not do is pretend Tofino is a day trip: it wants ten hours and an extra night on the ground.
