Toronto weddings are rarely a single afternoon. A Sikh wedding runs from an early Anand Karaj to a reception that ends near midnight. A Pakistani celebration spreads mehndi, nikah and walima across three days and often three venues. Tamil, Persian, Ethiopian, Jewish and Chinese weddings each carry their own order of events and their own single moment that matters more than all the others.
Quoting that as one flat number is how couples get hurt: either they pay for hours they did not need on the quietest day, or coverage starts too late on the day that mattered, or a photographer arrives at a three-day wedding with the editing capacity for one and the gallery takes five months. I scope by event and arrive early enough to understand the venue before the wedding.
How I work here
The GTA is the densest wedding market in the country and the one most often quoted badly. A three-day celebration is not one package with a bigger number on it.
I will tell you where I stand during an Anand Karaj, that the nikah signing is the frame that matters, and what I have and have not photographed before. Enthusiasm is not competence, and a photographer who nods at everything is a photographer who will miss something.
Days, venues, distance between them, whether two events share a day, and how many people are in each room. That decides crew, travel and editing volume, which is where the cost actually lives. One quote, itemised, and a rehearsal dinner or welcome event of up to three hours is C$1,000.
When the itinerary requires it, I arrive the day before so I am rested and have walked the venue in daylight. Travel is booked early and kept to the route the job actually needs.
So I scope by event rather than by package. How many days, how many venues, how far apart, whether any two events share a day, how many people are in each room, and which twenty minutes of the whole thing you would be heartbroken to lose. Those six answers decide crew, travel and editing volume, which is where the cost actually lives. They also produce a timeline that survives contact with Highway 401 traffic on a Saturday in June, which no flat package has ever done.
The part that gets underestimated is editing capacity rather than shooting capacity. A three-day celebration produces something like fifteen to twenty thousand frames. A photographer whose workflow is built for one Saturday will take four or five months to return that gallery and will quote you eight weeks when you ask. I would rather tell you the real number at the start, which is why the delivery date goes in the contract as a date.
The collection costs what it costs anywhere: Signature C$3,000, Legacy C$4,200, Photo + Film C$5,900. Travel uses the lowest practical early-booked route and is reduced or waived when I am already scheduled nearby. Niagara, the 1000 Islands, Muskoka and Prince Edward County all buy the same collections at the same figures.
The ground
The GTA is enormous and the good light is not where the tourists are. These are the places couples here actually get married, and what each does to a frame.
Downtown east
Brick, iron and string lights. Crowded until it is not; the last hour before it opens is the whole trick.
Don Valley
Industrial frames and real green in the middle of the city. The best rain backup in Toronto.
Don Mills
White stone and hard geometry. Extraordinary at midday, which is when almost nothing else works.
Midtown
For the couples who want the day to look like a period film. Book the light, not the room.
90 minutes south
Vineyards and the Floral Showhouse glasshouse. Inside the Toronto price, so a winery Saturday costs what a downtown one costs.
2 to 3 hours out
Docks, lakes, float planes and long grass. Same region, same number, and worth the drive.
The work
Frames from real Toronto, the GTA and Southern Ontario weddings rather than location scouting. Every one of these was a day with guests in it.
The calendar
Ontario gives you a long season and one genuinely difficult month.
May to June
Long and green
Peak. Saturdays go eighteen months ahead and the good venues go further out than that.
July to August
Hot and high
Humidity is the real problem, not the sun. Indoor ceremonies and late portraits.
September to October
Gold, and colour
The best month in the province is the first two weeks of October, and everyone knows it.
November to April
Short and grey
Weekday and off-season rates open up everywhere. Grey is soft light, and I will show you what that looks like.
The shape of it
A single-day Signature wedding in the GTA. A multi-day celebration is built differently and quoted separately.
Mississauga and Scarborough are not one location. This is where a second photographer stops being a luxury.
The 401 on a June Saturday is a real number in the timeline, not an optimistic one.
Whatever the tradition, I have asked in advance which twenty minutes you would be heartbroken to lose, and I am standing where those happen.
Capped at twelve groups from a written list. A large GTA family will produce twenty-two if nobody stops it.

Speeches, the dances that matter, the room. Off-camera flash once it goes dark, because a dark room is not an excuse.
Whole days
Every wedding comes back as one continuous roll. These open on the first frame and run to the last, including the quiet parts a portfolio leaves out. It is the only honest way to judge whether someone can carry a whole day.

What it costs
The same as everywhere else. A collection carries one national price, because the photography is the same work wherever it happens. Sales tax goes on top, so do any add-ons you choose, and travel stays separate only when the wedding requires its own trip.

Travel: Early-booked low-cost air or rail, ground transport and only the nights the schedule requires. It is a separate, agreed figure in the contract, never a line that appears at the end. Send the venue and the date and you will have it in the first reply.
